Te Toka Tuu Moana
PERTH
BOORLOO is the 'NYOONGAR' name for Perth
Before the founding of the Swan River Colony, the indigenous Nyoongar people
were well established in the southwest corner of Western Australia
hunting and gathering. They called the area on which Perth now stands, Boorloo.

Kia ora, my name is Te Hana Kahu.
I am from the West Coast of Taranaki - Ngāti Ruanui, born and raised in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand.
I moved to Western Australia in 2016 and quickly sought opportunities to maintain my connection to my culture and country. Through Mau Rākau, I am able to strengthen my mind, body, and spirit and keep that connection to my homeland and whānau in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
I am inspired by the eagerness of our youth. With guidance from Te Manawa Ora, Matua Malachi, Matua Pepe, and Whaea Tat, along with my whānau support here in Te Urupū, we are able to provide a space for Tauira from across the region to learn the skills and values under Te Whare Tū Taua o Aotearoa here in Noongar country, Perth.
